Samsung can now be offering seven years of updates for its last flagships (even eight for business models), but that has not always been the case. The Galaxy S20 series has now reached the end of the road; None of the devices will receive more software updates from now on.
By the way, we are talking about S20, S20+and S20 Ultra, who have reached the five -year mark since their release. Samsung issued monthly security updates during the first four of those years, then changing them to a quarterly schedule for the last year. And now all that is over, since these devices only promised support for five years.
Since it was launched later in the year, the S20 Fe is still receiving quarterly security updates, but will also move in a few months from now on.
Many phone manufacturers these days promise at least increasingly long software windows for their flagships, which is a welcome trend, but we have to ask ourselves how long is long enough. We would love to know about you, how often do you change your phones? And, therefore, what number of years is a software support window large enough in your opinion? Let us know in the comments.
